This policy applies to visitors, account holders, and people who interact with public ByteSize profiles. A profile may contain content and links selected by its creator. The creator and linked third-party services may have separate privacy practices. 2. Information we collect We may collect the following categories of information: - Account information, such as your email address, name if you provide it, username or handle, authentication and session identifiers, and account preferences. - Profile content, such as links, text, images, uploaded files, integrations, and other material you choose to publish or store. - Usage and device information, such as IP address, browser and device information, referring pages, pages viewed, interactions, timestamps, approximate location derived from an IP address, and diagnostic logs. - Billing information, such as your subscription plan, subscription status, and payment history. Stripe handles payments, and ByteSize does not store your full card number. - Communications, such as support requests, feedback, survey responses, and other messages you send us. - Cookie and similar-technology information used for sessions, preferences, security, and analytics. We do not ask you to submit sensitive personal information. Do not place sensitive information in a public profile or support message unless it is necessary. 3. How we collect information We collect information: - directly from you when you create an account, build a profile, subscribe, or contact us; - automatically when you use the Service; - from service providers that help us operate the Service; and - from third-party services or public sources when you direct us to connect or display them. 4. How we use information We use information to: - provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service; - authenticate users and manage accounts; - host and display profiles and user content; - process subscriptions and maintain billing records; - provide support and respond to requests; - understand product usage and measure performance; - detect abuse, fraud, security incidents, and technical problems; - send service messages and, where permitted, product communications; and - comply with law, enforce our terms, and protect users, ByteSize, and others. 5. How we disclose information We disclose information to Stripe for subscription billing and payment processing. We also disclose information to service providers that help us operate ByteSize, including providers for authentication, hosting, data storage, service delivery, security, email and support communications, analytics, and error monitoring. We may also disclose information: - when required by law or a valid legal process; - to protect the rights, safety, and security of ByteSize, our users, or others; - to professional advisers under appropriate confidentiality duties; or - in connection with a sale or transfer of the Service or its assets, subject to applicable law. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. 6. Cookies and analytics ByteSize uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep users signed in, remember preferences, protect the Service, and understand usage. Analytics providers may collect pseudonymous or aggregated usage information. You can control cookies through your browser, but blocking necessary storage may prevent parts of the Service from working. 7. Retention and deletion We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the Service, maintaining security and business records, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations. You can request account deletion through the account settings. If you have a paid subscription that is set to renew, schedule its cancellation first. You may also need to resolve an unpaid balance. Deletion may not immediately remove information from backups, records we must keep for legal, billing, fraud-prevention, or security purposes, aggregated or de-identified information, or content another person independently provided. 8. Security We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please protect your account and notify us if you believe it has been compromised. 9. Where information is processed Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Those countries may have privacy laws that differ from the laws where you live. 10. Your choices and rights You can review and update certain account information in the Service. You may also ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information associated with you, or opt out of marketing email. We may verify your identity before completing a request. To make a privacy request, email support@bytesize.me. We may keep information when necessary for security, billing, fraud prevention, or a legal obligation. 11. Children The Service is not directed to children under 13. You may not create or use an account if you are under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 provided personal information to us, contact support@bytesize.me so we can investigate and take appropriate action. If you are at least 13 but under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use the Service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. 12. Third-party services Public profiles may link to or embed third-party services. ByteSize does not control those services and is not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before providing information to them. 13. Changes to this policy We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Service, our practices, or applicable law. We will post the updated policy and change the effective date above. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when required by law. 14.
